So we had a picnic for the A.L.I. today and got chased away by a massive thunderstorm.

A.L.I. teachers say good-bye to Kristen and Tom

Kristen and Tom are leaving the faculty of the American Language Institute at the completion of the current semester. Tom is retiring, and Kristen is moving to Duke University with her husband Heymo. Bummer.

At the end of each term, the A.L.I. (American Language Institute) holds a little celebration/get-together with food and some speeches. Most of the younger looking folks had/have to endure me as a teacher. Most of the older looking folks have to endure me as a colleague.
